Mission Statement

In order to assist in meeting the health care needs of the people of Oklahoma, the mission of the University of Oklahoma Physician Associate Program is to educate health care providers to practice medicine, associated with a physician supervisor.

Goal of the Physician Associate Educational Program

The goal of the Physician Associate Program is to provide qualified physician associates with advanced academic, clinical, administrative and research skills to be used to improve the quality and accessibility of health care by assuming leadership roles in the following settings:

1.  provide primary care services to a variety of populations in a variety of clinical settings;

2.  provide medical services to patients with a supervising physician, who may be physically located at the practice site or a site remote from physician associate;

3.  provide medical services to various under served populations     
     including rural, minority, and geriatric populations;

4.  provision of professional education to health care providers;

5.  provision of education to patients and the public and

6.  development of local and state health policy.
